Bellwork: Begin a new section of notes titled “Protestant Reformation”. Copy the following key terms and guiding questions to help you in taking notes: Key Terms and People: Protestant Reformation, indulgences, Martin Luther, theocracy, John Calvin, predestination, Henry VIII, annulled, Elizabeth I Guiding Questions: What was the state of Catholicism in the 1400s? How did Martin Luther challenge the Catholic Church? How did Protestantism spread to other areas? What were the effects of the Reformation in England?

3 October 7, 2015 Agenda: Primary Source Analysis-Luther’s Letter to Archbishop Mainz and Questions Directions: Read the letter Martin Luther writes to Archbishop Mainz and answer the questions provided. When you are done, you need to get your work stamped. This will go in your unit packet.

What is the overall message of the pair of illustrations?

5 October 8, 2015 Agenda: Collect phones, Review for Quiz, Protestant Reformation Quiz, Go over quiz (if time allows) Directions: Use the sticky notes to write your name on and put it on your phone. I will come around to collect your phones for the quiz. You will get them back at the end of class. If you do not surrender your phone, and get caught with it, this results in a zero on the quiz.
