The issue may not be integrity, but the students not understanding the assignment or the reading they are trying to cite from.
Business leaders have to look at each situation differently, and make fair decisions

Ms. Pelton’s biology project was meant to have students show what they knew about a topic they were learning about, and if they copy it, they don’t learn how to research or what the content says.
If a business sets guidelines for responsible behavior, they should enforce it every time.
Kid’s won’t copy if they know there is a consequence, much like laws/codes of ethics keep bank teller from stealing patron’s money for fear of prosecution.
The issue may not be integrity, but the students not understanding the assignment or the reading they are trying to cite from.
With some of the students I work with, they don’t know what paraphrasing is, so they just change a few words. This counts as plagiarism, though they didn’t mean to do it. (to Refute: If a teacher has taught them to do the project, they have no excuse)

All students failing is extreme— may show teacher made a mistake.
