5. What is a sixth sense?
10 days before a tidal wave hit Sri Lanka wild animals seemed to know it was going to happen.
Elephants ran for higher ground
Zoo animals ran into their shelters and would not come out
Dogs refused to go outside
Flamingos left their low lying breeding grounds
AMAZING, isn’t it?

6. Some animals have amazing senses
Bats and Dolphins use ECHOLOCATION to catch their food
They make sounds, which bounce off the prey
By listening to the soundwaves dolphins and the bats can work out where to find their food

7. An amazing sense of direction
Salmon and Sea Turtles can travel thousands of miles and find their way back to the exact spot where they were born.
When they get there, they lay their eggs
The probably use the Earth’s magnetic fields to guide them

8. Electric impulse
The hammerhead’s flattened head makes it easier for it to detect electrical impulses
It can feel when a nearby fish’s muscles expand and contract
Making it a deadly predator

Some experts think animals have the same senses us but they are much more sensitive
Perhaps we can learn to use senses that we didn’t know we had?
