3 Their relationship Churchill and Roosevelt did not really trust Stalin, Stalin really didn’t trust Churchill and Roosevelt, but they shared a common enemy; Germany.

4 Victory in North Africa
Allied troops, in part led by Dwight Eisenhower, are successful at pushing the Nazi’s out of North Africa and up through Italy.

5 Mussolini After the Allies win back Italy, Italians overthrow Mussolini and set up a new government.

6 Soviet Union victories
The Soviet Union is successful in pushing out the Germans, with the battle of Stalingrad being a turning point. The Germans had the Soviet city surrounded, but they are going to run out of supplies. The Soviets continue to push the Germans back to Germany after this.

8 Germany is being pushed from the East, and the South.
D-Day Germany is being pushed from the East, and the South. The D-Day Invasion is designed so that they will be pushed from the West as well.

9 Planning this invasion was extremely difficult.
The Process Planning this invasion was extremely difficult. Allied troops began amassing in the Southern part of Great Britain. The Germans knew they were coming.

10 Deception The Allies created fake tanks and airplanes to make it look like they were going to land in Calais, the closest point in France from Great Britain. They also had double agents spreading fake information throughout the high level German command.

11 The first wave hits the shores of Normandy at dawn.
June 6, 1944. This is the day of the invasion. 156,000 Allied troops get ferried across the English Channel. The first wave hits the shores of Normandy at dawn.

12 Obstacles It’s incredibly difficult to invade a country coming in from the sea. The Germans have the “high” ground and can easily see the Allied troops coming. They set up mines on the beach ahead of time to further complicate things.

13 Victory Despite all these obstacles, the Allies are able to push the Germans back off the beach, and eventually out of France all together.
