1 Transmissions/Clutch

2 Transmission/Clutch What is the gear ratio for first gear?
4 to 1 or 3.5 to 1

3 Transmission/Clutch What is the gear ratio for 4th gear? 1 to 1

4 Transmission/Clutch What is the gear ratio for over drive? .7 to 1

5 Transmission/Clutch What is constant mesh?-
- Those gears in a manual transmission that are constantly engaged, the ar never apart.

6 Transmission/Clutch A standard transmission uses a clutch to move the vehicle, what does an automatic transmission use? Torque converter (hydraulic)

7 Transmission/Clutch How do you check the fluid level on an automatic transmission? - With the engine running.

8 Transmission/Clutch List the basic parts of the clutch: (5 parts)
- Flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate, throughout bearing, pilot bearing

9 Transmission/Clutch List three different clutch activation types:
Mechanical Hydraulic cable

10 Transmission/Clutch What is included in a clutch replacement package?
- Clutch alignment tool, clutch disc, pilot bearing, throughout bearing, pressure plate.

11 Explain how the clutch engages and disengages the transfer of power.
- Press the pedal down, that engages the clutch master cylinder, which puts pressure through hydraulic lines against the pilot bearing, which puts pressure on the pressure plate and allow the clutch disc to slip. This process disengages the clutch. When the pedal is let out again the pressure plate squeezes up against the clutch disc and flywheel and the clutch is now reengaged. Transmission/Clutch
