1 Secret CODE????? No Weather Code

2 Common Weather Symbols:

3 Observed Sea Level Pressure
last three digits of the observed pressure reading in millibars (mb) It gets kind of weird...... If reported value greater than 500: Initial 9 is missing. Place it on left, then divide by 10. For example: 827 becomes mb. If reported value less than 500: Initial 10 is missing. Place it on left, then divide by 10. For example: 027 becomes mb.

4 Observed Cloud Cover

5 Wind Barb indicates the direction
point in the direction "from" which the wind is blowing NORTHEAST “erly” vs “ward”

6 Wind Barb indicates the speed and direction

7 Reading the WEATHER isobar - line connecting points of equal pressure

8 isotherm - line connecting points of equal temperature

9

10 the boundaries between air masses
Fronts the boundaries between air masses

11 Before Passing While Passing After Passing Winds south-southwest gusty; shifting west-northwest Temperature warm sudden drop steadily dropping Pressure falling steadily minimum, then sharp rise rising steadily Clouds increasing: cirrus, cumulonimbus fair weather cumulus cirrostratus, and cumulonimbus Precipitation short period of heavy rains, sometimes with hail, showers then clearing showers thunder and lightning Visibility fair to poor in haze poor, followed by improving good, except in showers Dew Point high; remains sharp drop lowering steady
