Served as president of two Atlanta colleges-Morehouse College and Atlanta University
He established Atlanta University as the first U.S. College specializing in graduate education for African Americans
Hope also helped to improve housing, health care and job opportunities.
He was a huge supported of the NAACP.

3. Lugenia Burns Hope Married to John Hope
Founded the Neighborhood Union, which stated as a social organization.
It would eventually setup and establish a health clinic, clubs for boys and girls and job training.

4. Alonzo herndon Started life as a slave
Would eventually learn a trade and become a barber.
With $140 dollars would invest in a business and become the founder of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company
He was the wealthiest African American in Atlanta by 1927.

Served Georgia as a civil rights activist
Was named as ambassador to the United Nations in 1977.
He would become the mayor of Atlanta succeeding Maynard Jackson.
Very instrumental in helping to bring the Summer Olympics to Atlanta in 1996.

6. Maynard Jackson Graduated from Morehouse College Lawyer by trade
Jackson became the first African American mayor of a major southern city
