11. What are WHMIS Symbols?
There are 8 WHMIS symbols. These symbols are put on the containers of hazardous materials. These symbols are used to help people identify which dangers a material poses.

12. COMPRESSED GAS These gases are stored under high pressure.
If heated or dropped they may EXPLODE!
Ex) Propane and Acetylene bottles

13. FLAMMABLE & COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS
Ignite and burn when exposed to a spark or flame.
Ex) Oil and Gasoline

14. OXIDIZING MATERIALS
Release OXYGEN which helps OTHER flammable materials to burn.
Ex) Nitrogen Dioxide

15. MATERIALS CAUSING IMMEDIATE & SERIOUS TOXIC EFFECTS
Can cause serious illness or death & the effects will be seen right away.
(Vomiting, Blindness, Loss of Consciousness, Coma, Death)

Can undergo spontaneous reactions. Their reactions can be extremely violent. They may react with water.
