2. Earth’s spheres LITHOSPHERE (LAND) Reaches to a depth of 65 kms
Includes: upper mantle, crust, continents, the ocean floor, mountains, sand and rocks

3. Earth’s spheres BIOSPHERE (ALL LIVING THINGS)
All the living things on the planet
Includes: microorganisms, plants animals, humans and insects
Thinking: So what is a biosphere reserve (Noosa is one)

4. Earth’s spheres HYDROSPHERE (WATER)
All forms of water on the planet– liquid, solid, gas
Includes: groundwater within the lithosphere, rivers, lakes, oceans, glaciers, snow and water vapour in the air
Thinking: So what is the main reason we can survive on earth vs. Mars?
Interconnected spheres!

5. Earth’s spheres ATMOSPHERE (AIR)
Includes layers of air from less than 1 metre below the earth’s surface to approx. 100 km above
Layers are: thermosphere, mesosphere, stratosphere, troposphere
Thinking: What layer of the atmosphere does the sound of a fighter jets come from?
