1. Clicker 101 (Student Response System)
This is a brief video to help students in some Boise State courses that use Clickers also known as Turning Point Technologies.

2. ResponseCard® NXT
Clicker Types Response Card NXT (Preferred) Available at the BSU Bookstore You will receive approximately 50% money back at the end of the semester if selling the Response Card NXT back to the bookstore. Note: The Response Card XR (an older device available used) has a slower response time and you may not be able to complete answers before the allotted time for each question.

You will need to purchase a clicker
As noted in the picture, the NXT Response Card is the one that is preferred, though the older XR should work as well.
You can purchase the clickers at the Boise State bookstore, and sell them back to the bookstore at the end of the semester.
There is also something called Response Ware where you can use your smart phone or laptop as a clicker. However, we will not be using Response Ware in our class.

If you are using a new clicker you will need to activate that clicker.

This is very simple. You just remove the plastic strip on the back of the clicker.

Your clicker should be ready to use. The channel that your clicker needs to be on is 41. It is already preset for channel 41 if you bought your clicker at the Boise State Bookshop. It is very simple to change the channel if it is not on Channel 41.

6. Simply go to the Channel Button, press down and then put in the right channel.

7. After putting in the right Channel press the OK button

While your clicker might be sending your answers to surveys and quiz questions, you must also register your clicker in Blackboard in order for your answers to be credited toward your grades.
To properly register your clicker, login to Blackboard.

Once you are in, you will find the course that you are enrolled in that use Blackboard. Choose the course for which you wish to register your clicker. You can use your clicker for more than one class, so if you have multiple courses on Blackboard that use clickers, you will just need to purchase one clicker.

Once you enter your course site, you will notice on the left side a tab that says Tools.

In this screen, scroll down until you see the “TurningPoint Registration Tool.” Click on this.
In the tools site, you will notice a Turning Point Registration icon. f you click on to that link it will take you to a page where you can register your clicker.

You will be asked to Register your clicker by typing in your Response Device ID. That ID consists of six characters. The characters are letters between A and E and numbers between 0 and nine. So if you see an O that is a zero not the letter O.
It will be very helpful for you to have your clicker registered before the first day of class. You will also need to bring your clicker every time we have class.
You must only use your clicker in the class. The penalty for academic dishonesty with regard to clickers includes expulsion from the university.

14. One important thing to remember in taking this course is that you are not alone. If you have any logistical problems with Blackboard or the clickers, please call the Help Desk at

15. Interactive Learning Center Student Union Building
There are also two places on campus where you can walk in if you have questions about the logistics of using clickers. These centers are called The Zone and you can find them in the Interactive Learning Center and in the Student Union Building
