- a study launched by France wich should give an overview of the different ways to do it (consultant : ACTeon)
examples of methodologies developped by differents MS
 Lack of time to achieve the document due to national issues

What do we have (today) in the paper?

- Result of the french study giving the context, the key questions and possibility of action (at which time in the processus, wich data to be used, what are the different options…)
- MS methodologies
+ answers to the questions listed on the additional paper could help us to complete the document

4. Discussion (1) General question on targets :
Are social and economic considerations relevant for each environmental target/descriptor?
What might be reasons used by MS for “screening” descriptors and for short-listing those for which social and economic concerns need to be investigated?  
Do MS envisage to propose different targets by descriptor (if yes, for which descriptors in particular)? Will then social and economic concerns help choosing the “right target”?

5. Discussion (2) Using ESA results :
Do MS use (or plan to use) the results of the ESA for supporting the definition of environmental targets?
If yes, which component(s) and part(s) of the assessment is expected to be used in particular?
At which (spatial) scale is the “integration” of social and economic data performed?

6. Discussion (3)
Using other data as Annex 4 (9) suggests (economic and social concerns)
- Do MS foresee the use of additional socio- economic data and information (studies) for supporting the definition of environmental targets? If yes, which ones?  
Does the “consultation” process play a role in the selection of environmental targets – in particular in feeding “social and economic concerns” for : 
1/  defining a level of ambition for the environmental target
2/ selecting one environmental target when several targets are suggested ?
