They made “baskets” from ropes of clay in the way that they had been making baskets from grasses and the like.

14. Coil Pot Assignment
Create a coil pot that incorporates a curved shape and 3 patterns on the surface
Be made from coils, NOT slab strips
The pot must have at least 3 designs in the walls that creates a pattern
It must have a CURVE
The pot must be at least 6 inches tall (not wide)
Have an even coil thickness (no thicker than your thumb)
Must have a smooth inside but coiled outside
Sketchbook work should include 10 ideas for shape and 5 ideas for coil designs.
