Titanic – descriptive writing
Learning Objective: Can I write a descriptive draft based on an image?
Starter: have a look at the image on your table. Can you write down some adjectives to describe it?
Challenge: can you rank your adjectives in order of how powerful they are?
Super-challenge: can you use some similes or metaphors to describe the scene?

15. Adjectives: words that describe an object, person or place.
Vocabulary Expert
You are going to ensure that everyone uses effective imagery. In your coaching session, you need to encourage people to start sentences in interesting ways and use ambitious vocabulary. Teach them about:
Sequencing connectives: connectives that tell put things in order (Firstly, after this, eventually, finally, next)
Adverbs: words that describe an action (slowly, suddenly, quietly, fearfully)
Adjectives: words that describe an object, person or place.
Can you think of words that people could use instead of:
