6 STRUCTURE your essay Start with an introductory paragraph e.g. Schoenberg’s PERIPETIE was composed in the early twentieth century and is expressionist in style. OR Schoenberg composed PERIPETIE in 1909 and it is typical of expressionist style

7 MAXIMISE YOUR MARK ! Structure your essay
Use appropriate musical language e.g. HEXACHORD ATONAL EXPRESSIONIST Only give relevant information – don’t just write all you know about the work Spelling, punctuation, grammar errors all count in the mark scheme ! Use Paragraphs HANDWRITE this – you have to in the exam

E.g.Schoenberg’s PERIPETIE is a complex piece of music and sounds initially disorganised and random. However as discussed above it is tightly organised and shows many features of early 20th century music
