2 What are pedigrees? Pedigrees track traits within lines of descent (family trees) and are used to figure out the method of inheritance of certain traits (usually diseases)

3 Methods of inheritance
Autosomal dominant: dominant trait carried on chromosomes in pairs 1-22 Autosomal recessive: recessive trait carried on chromosomes in pairs 1-22 Sex linked: carried on X or Y chromosome (can be dominant or recessive)

4 Examples Y linked Autosomal Recessive: Y chromosome infertility
Cystic Fibrosis X linked Recessive: Sickle Cell Anemia Hemophilia Autosomal Dominant: X linked Dominant: Huntington’s Disease Fragile X Syndrome Marfan Syndrome
