1. Lutheran Hour Ministries is a Christian outreach ministry supporting churches worldwide in its mission of Bringing Christ to the Nations – and the Nations to the Church. LHM produces Christian radio and TV programming, as well as Internet and print communications, dramas, music, and outreach materials, to reach those who need Christ throughout the world.
Today’s training will focus on who Lutheran Hour Ministries is and what programs we have to offer. We will also talk about some ways to promote LHM within your congregation.

Lutheran Hour Ministries is a leading global evangelism organization that serves as a catalyst in connecting the unchurched and dechurched with Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Lutheran Church—Canada and partner congregations. We carry out our mission of Bringing Christ to the Nations—and the Nations to the Church by developing culturally relevant programs and projects that proclaim the Gospel to the unchurched, encouraging those people who are reached through these ministry efforts to respond by contacting staff or volunteers. We then cultivate relationships with those who have responded to ultimately facilitate a relationship between them and a congregation, thus helping grow the Kingdom of God. Our ultimate goal is to see people transformed, though the Holy Spirit, into the creation God intended. Therefore, Lutheran Hour Ministries is on the frontiers of communicating the Good News of Jesus to the hurting and lost, facilitating eternal relationships. We are actively engaged, alongside ministry partners, in connecting the hurting and lost to the church community, resulting in change and hope in our world.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, LHM shares the Gospel message about 1 million times a week in the United States. Around the globe through our more than 30 international ministry centers, nearly 400,000 people whose lives have been changed by the Holy Spirit responded last year to our culturally relevant outreach efforts. Of these nearly 400,000 individuals, more than 58,000 of them were referred to a local congregation for spiritual growth and nurturing. More than 12,000 of these people continued to attend church events several times after their referral.
These numbers illustrate how Lutheran Hour Ministries is reaching the world with the saving Gospel. So you may be asking … what programs does Lutheran Hour Ministries offer to allow us to work side-by-side with congregations in mission?

The Lutheran Hour, our flagship program, is the longest-running Gospel radio program, airing since Since that time The Lutheran Hour has grown to what it is today, heard on more than 1,400 stations in the U.S. and Canada to reach a very diverse and changing audience. In addition to traditional radio, The Lutheran Hour is also available as a podcast from the web, online at lutheranhour.org and on the American Forces Network for members of the military and their families. A Spanish-language broadcast of The Lutheran Hour, entitled Para el Camino, airs on 22 U.S. stations and over the Internet.
We are excited to have the Rev. Gregory Seltz as the Speaker of The Lutheran Hour. Pastor Seltz took over as Speaker in 2011 following the retirement of Pastor Ken Klaus. Pastor Klaus now serves as Speaker Emeritus of The Lutheran Hour and writes Daily Devotions for the ministry that are available online or via .

Men’s NetWork
The LHM Men’s NetWork provides men with resources and opportunities to grow in their faith and to learn – through service, fellowship, and leadership development – how to be all God has called them to be in their families, churches, and communities. It offers Scripture-based, downloadable materials on a variety of topics to respond to men’s needs and interests. More than 15,000 individuals are registered to use the free resources. International Ministries
LHM’s International Ministries division reaches out around the world in many different ways to connect with people who do not know Christ. Each of the more than 30 ministry centers has local staff working hand-in-hand with dedicated volunteers and church partners to tailor their outreach programs to what will work best in their culture. For example, in India, dance is used to tell the salvation story, while in Vietnam, volunteers use puppet shows to proclaim the Gospel. Their website is lhm.org/international.

All LHM programs are entirely outreach-focused and share the saving love of Christ, whether in your church’s backyard, or across the globe. Here are some other LHM programs that are available to your congregation to help them share the love of Christ with others!
Project Connect is a display of topical LHM booklets, written from a Christian perspective, that help church members share the love of Christ.
MISSION U is a witnessing-training program designed to provide lay people with tools and the training needed to confidently accept their mission of sharing Jesus Christ with unique people in diverse settings.
Five14 is a community where teens (and recent survivors of teenhood) get together online and in person to make a life-changing impact on their generation with the love of Jesus Christ.
Daily Devotions written by The Lutheran Hour’s Speaker Emeritus Pastor Ken Klaus reach more than 45,000 subscribers via and thousands of others online. A series of special Seasonal Devotions are also available each year during Advent and Lent.
JCPlayZone is a children’s website with Bible stories, devotions, games, crafts, coloring pages, and much more, but with a Christian perspective!
Military Prayer Guides are devotional booklets created specifically for military personnel and their families.
Our Regional Outreach Conferences across North America energize attendees for personal witness to their neighbors, family and other cultures.
The International Ministries Partnership program enables individuals and /or congregations to be actively involved with, communicate directly with or give financial support to an LHM ministry center of their choice. International Ministries Partners decide their level of commitment, whether it is through a one-time gift, ongoing support or taking a short-term mission trip to a ministry center to do hands-on ministry.

Don’t overwhelm yourself or your congregation
Recruit help for your promotional efforts
Please do not feel that you have to cover every program the first time you speak about Lutheran Hour Ministries. Pick one or two programs that would interest the members of your congregation and talk about how they can help you accomplish your outreach and ministry goals!
It is also a great idea to recruit help from ministry leaders or other congregation members when making a presentation or setting up a display.
Work with the members who are involved with a particular ministry, or have a passion about a ministry and have them share how LHM programs can help, or have helped their ministry if they are already using an LHM program.
