5 Behaviour We praise positive behaviour
If behaviour in the class is not deemed to be
acceptable, the child will sent to their Year Lead If there is no improvement, then children will be
sent to the phase lead. Break time detentions are held centrally for
children who require reflection time to think
about their choices. All behaviour is logged on the system. Letters will be sent home for some behaviours or
if a behaviour is repeated. Your child's class teacher will inform you about
behaviour concerns that they might have.

6 Healthy Lunches Lady Margaret is a healthy school. This means that your children are encouraged to bring a healthy packed lunch. This could include: a sandwich; a yoghurt; a piece of fruit; vegetable sticks etc. Please make sure to discuss with your child the importance of eating a lunch!
Football can wait!

7 Year 6 Topics Home learning will be given on a Tuesday and must be
returned the following Monday.

8 Diaries Children have been given diaries. It is their responsibility to look after them and bring them into school everyday. This is your first point of contact with the teacher. Any additional home learning will be written in the diaries as and when it is required and is at the discretion of the set teacher. Children are expected to bring their Reading Record into school every day and write messages down as requested by the teacher.

9 Phone calls will be made by if homework is not handed in on time.
Teachers will be keeping a record of the reading and homework completed by each child. Phone calls will be made by if homework is not handed in on time. Homework needs to be handed in every Monday and will be given out on a Tuesday. Homework guidance can be found on the school website in the policy section.

10 Communication If you have any concerns or queries regarding any aspect of school life, please contact your child's class teacher though the diary. Quick queries may be resolved at the end of the school
day and a meeting can be arranged if more time is
required. Please ensure that queries are addressed through the
class teacher in the first instance, then Year Lead (Miss Nandra), Phase Lead (Miss Dobee), Assistant Head teacher (Miss Byrne), Deputy Head teacher (Miss Bartholomew/ Miss Simpson) and then finally the Head teacher (Mrs Rai).

11 Reading For Pleasure We will be expecting your child to read every night at home and have their reading record signed with a relevant description of how and what they read in the remarks section. Please ensure that they bring their reading record in every day! Please make sure that your child is a member of the local library.
 Encourage your child to choose
books of an appropriate level.

12 What you can do to help your child
- Read with your child and ask questions about what
they have read. - Use a dictionary for any unknown words. - Encourage your child to read the essential reads. - Support with spellings. - To learn and practice multiplication tables and division facts. - Handwriting practice (see diary). - Attend curriculum events at school where possible

13 Spellings Children will be handed spellings every week and will be tested on them every week. The year 5 and 6 spelling list can be
found in the school diary, online and on the school website.

14 Friends of LMPS Here at LMPS, we would love to increase
parental involvement. If you would be happy to support with fundraising activities, please inform the school.

15 Soft starts Children are expected to be in class,
seated and ready to learn at 8:50. Soft start activities provide children
with a chance to recap/consolidate prior learning from the previous day.

16 Clubs and boosters We will be selecting children to attend booster and reading clubs. This will be done at the discretion of the
class teacher. It is imperative children attend these clubs in order to
help them progress.

17 E-Safety It is very important to keep our children safe online. As a result, there should be careful monitoring at home when they are using the Internet. No child should have a Face book account, Instagram, Whatsapp or Snap chat. There are age restrictions on all of these sites. Due to the anonymity of these sites, children often are bullied and bully others, which then causes problems at home and school, so takes away from learning time. Grand theft auto is an 18+ game and should not be played by any pupils. Pokemon Go is an exciting game; however it can lead to extra phone costs as it uses a lot of data. It can be addictive and play should be limited to a certain time. Children should be playing games appropriate to their age. Children should be logged off computers, gaming, I-pads, tablets and mobile phones by 8pm. This then allows children to wind down and calm their minds before bed. Further to this, it ensures children are ready to learn the next day. All the children at Lady Margaret primary school have access to DB primary. They should have log ins stuck inside their diaries. On the web site there is a rich variety of games, educational material etc.

18 Any other information regarding term dates etc
can be found on our website.
The newsletter will also be on the school website too, so please make sure you read it every week to keep up to date with events and important information.
