8th grade warm ups Week of

Monday (Mon.) EQ: How can you graph the motion of a moving object? WU: On a distance vs time graph, what does the slope tell you? Ans: 1: The slope, which is the steepness of a line, tells you how fast one variable changes in relation to the other variable in the graph. 2: It tells you the rate of change.

Tuesday (Tues.) WU: What does a constant slope represent? Ans: A constant slope represents motion at a constant speed.

Wednesday(Wed.) WU: How do you calculate for slope? Ans: To calculate slope you divide the rise( the vertical distance) by the run (the horizontal difference between two points.)

Thursday(Thurs.) WU: Use the graph to calculate the slope of the moving object at the 15 minute mark.

Thursday(Thurs.) Ans: Slope= rise(vertical) run(horizontal) Slope: 30 meters 15 minutes Slope is 2 meters/minute

Friday (Fri.) WU: Explain what is happening at each point.

Friday (Fri.) 12-1-17 Ans: A to B is constant acceleration
B to C there is no change in motion C to D there is a rapid acceleration D to E no change in motion E to F deceleration
