1 Welcome! January 19th, 2018 Friday
Do Now Get out your weekly Bell Ringer sheet and begin working on Friday’s assignment. Once the bell rings, you will have five minutes to find and label the examples of figurative language. Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you 

2 it was a great event this year.
© Presto Plans Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration. The annual community picnic was an event not to be missed. This year, the sun stretched its shining arms around the park, and the sunflowers danced from side to side. The picnic table was packed with palatable snacks and delicious pop in plastic glasses. Frisbees made a whizzing sound as they flew from person to person, and loud splashes came from the kiddie pool. The relay race was taken very seriously. Some thought it was as competitive as the Olympic games. The only difference was that none of the competitors were very good, so they had even odds of winning. All in all, it was a great event this year.

3 “The Most Dangerous Game”
Today, we’re going to finish the audio book of Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game.” Remember to keep and eye out for the rest of the quotes on your quote hunt handout. Make sure you pay attention, because afterwards we’ll respond to some reading questions.

4 “The Most Dangerous Game”
Time for another hunt! I’ve hidden eight different questions around the classroom. It is your job to find them and answer them before class is over. As you find each question, be sure to write down your answers in the corresponding boxes on your handout. The game is on. Good luck! 
