3 What’s the Big Idea? Why do I care?
Almost everyone will play the role of a parent at some time in their lives. This could be an older sibling who looks after their little brothers or sisters. It could be an aunt or uncle playing the role of a parent. Or even a friend or neighbor who demonstrate parenting traits. As you go through the module, think about the characteristics and traits you can benefit from by imbedding them into your actions.

4 You are going to need to write some things down.
Use your journal, paper, or digital classroom to respond to prompts and activities.

5 Cheerleader Daddy Click on the link and watch this dad. As you watch, think about the characteristics or traits that make a dad great.

6 Fatherly Once you open the link Click on the tabs at the top of the page for Ages and Categories. For this activity, imagine that you are going to be a father. Are you expecting, do you have a three year old and don’t know how to be a father to them? Are you trying to understand more about serving healthy food to your child? Find a couple of articles to read and take notes about what you learned to help you be a better father.

10 The Fatherhood Project
Being a dad is serious business. If you don’t take a class to learn, then there is a lot of trial and error. As you read and watch videos on this website, identify the ways that The Fatherhood Project is meeting the goals of the “mission to improve the health and well-being of children by empowering fathers to be active, informed and emotionally engaged with their children and families.”

11 What is Love? As you watch this video, think about children who have only one parent in their lives. Sometimes life presents challenges that makes us feel lots of emotions. Anger and sadness are two of them. Have you faced these emotions? Some children have grandparents, siblings or other relative raising them. They might even be in foster care. We all still want to be loved and need to be nurtured as we grow.

12 Create! Now you have read about traits and characteristics of dads and leaders. You have watched some videos that demonstrate the expressions of love from dads. Create an infographic using or some other digital or traditional media tools. The poster should help others understand why nurturing dads are important for children.
