3 Task 1 included in the 2015 call for proposal:
Provision of feedback to improve methodology • Test the harmonised European definitions in the draft glossary available on CircaBC. • Compare it with the national methodologies and guidelines. • Provide recommendations to improve the glossary.

4 New definitions and new information added into the Manual
Unit of measurement included for all variables Link to the ESS Metadata Handler Link to Small Area Estimations papers and R codes Definition of deaths was not given before Definitions on 'All companies' and 'Number of local units' Guidelines on how to create FUA around Greater city

6 (1) Extended definitions
Average price for buying a real estate: Additional information on the components of the price (VAT, land parcels, real estate fees etc.) All variables on students Include now the online students with exact definition; interesting examples from the practice (e.g. university with campuses in two cities)

7 (2) Extended definitions
Price of a m3 of domestic water A table of the components of the price has been included in the Manual Number of murders and violent deaths The definition is now harmonised with the definition of “Intentional homicide”, indicated in the Guidelines of the Joint Eurostat–UNODC data collection on Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics. Cost of a combined monthly ticket Explanations one specific case such as one mode of transport, no public transport, free of charge

How to count apartment, houses and empty conventional dwelling caused often confusion Nomenclatures from 2020 Census Recommendations have been added to the Manual Number of children 0-4 in day care or school Specification when day care can be classified as ISCED level Municipal waste generated Supplementary information on specific chapters and waste codes from the List of Waste (Commission Decision 2000/532/EC).

Explanations on how to treat people with unknown nationality, double citizenship, stateless persons It is specified that the disposable income should be "equivalised" taking into account the ages of the households' members

10 Changed labels Students in higher education and educational attainment
The labels have been changed according ISCED 2011 'Population connected to potable drinking water system' is called now 'Population connected to public water supply' 'Average area of living accommodation' is called now 'Useful floor space' -> the term used in the 2020 Census Recommendations

11 Open issues Should we calculate the Average annual rent for housing only for unfurnished dwellings? Do we need an analytical chapter in the Manual? Should the Lone pensioner households be age specified (for e.g. 65+)? Average price for buying a real estate is measured now per m2 - do we need a new variable code and historical data? Should we specify for how long a dwelling must have been empty?
