5 School Policies Birthdays-
Students’ names will be read during morning announcements. Please do not send birthday treats from home. Please or evite all birthday invitations- this helps avoid anyone getting their feelings hurt. Class Parties- Fall Winter Friendship Day End of the Year Lunch- Send checks and cash in an envelope with your child’s and teacher’s name. You can also place money in your child’s lunch account online. 11/28/2018

Changes in Transportation- Please send a note or to let me know of any changes. If a change is needed late in the day, please call the office and they will let me know. Dress Code- Please follow the guidelines in the Student Handbook. Book Orders- Book orders will be sent home every month. Please make checks payable to the book company. (No cash) Orders can also be placed online. 11/28/2018

7 Classroom Expectations
Do Your Best and Forget the Rest!!! Listen when others are talking. Follow directions the first time. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Work quietly and do not disturb others. Show respect for school and personal property. Work and play in a safe manner. Bring in Red Folder and Agenda daily. 11/28/2018

10 Language Arts aligns with Common Core Reading
Reading Program- Harcourt Trophies Whole Group Instruction Small Group Instruction (Literature Groups) Reading tests are on Wednesday. Focuses on phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and the integration of writing. Literature Groups Goal is to use Chapter Books in small groups Skill Based Lessons 11/28/2018

12 Spelling Spelling Words
Overall goal is to develop an understanding of spelling rules and patterns. Spelling Words Spelling words will be sent home on Monday each week and kids should keep them in their Red Folder. Each list contains 20 words. First 5 come from 3rd grade most commonly used words, next 10 come from Harcourt story of the week, and the final 5 are challenge words. Students are responsible for all 20 words. Spelling tests will be on Friday. 11/28/2018

Provides a home connection. Homework will be a worksheet sent home nightly (Monday – Thursday) in their red folder. Basic Math Facts Practiced during class and nightly for fluency of facts. 11/28/2018

23 Agendas Your child should bring their agenda to and from school each day. This is where homework assignments and school events will be listed each week. 11/28/2018
