Mesopotamia is the region between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in present-day Iraq.
The two rivers brought rich soil from the mountains in Turkey and deposited the soil along the riverbanks, creating a perfect area for farmland.

Early agriculture and cities developed in this area thanks to the rivers.
