3 Mesopotamia Today you are going to learn about the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia. Pgs This civilization was formed between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in present- day Iraq. As you read, take complete notes, two pages. Use “Taking Notes” section on pg. 14 to guide your notes. Make sure you have the vocabulary in your notes. Answer Lesson 3 Review questions on pg. 17. Be ready to discuss!

9 Hammurabi’s Code As you know, Hammurabi’s Code was very harsh, but it became one of the earliest attempts at law. You are now going to read 20 laws within Hammurabi’s Code. You must pick 10 and translate them into modern language in groups of 4-5 people. Two of you will read 10 of them, and the other two will read the other 10. You will then share with each other what you read. We will do the first one as an example. (143)

10 Closure Which law did you find most shocking, and why? How do you think it would fair in today’s world? Do you think there is a law that exist like it today? Where?
