February 5-9, 2018 Standards RL2.1- Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. RL2.3- Describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges. RL2.4- Describe how words and phrases (e.g. regular beats, alliteration rhymes, repeated lines) supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song. RL2.5- Describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concluded the action. RL2.6- Acknowledge differences in the points of view of characters, including by speaking in a different voice for each character when reading dialogue aloud. RF2.3- Know and apply grade level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. L2.4- (vocab)- Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple meaning words/phrases based on grade 2 reading and content, choosing flexibly from an array of strategies. Vocabulary Words Host- someone who welcomes and looks after visitors or guest Hospitality- the friendly and caring way that a host looks after visitors or guest Gratitude- a feeling of being grateful or thankful Overjoyed- extremely happy Occasionally- once in a while, but not often Encourage- give someone confidence (belief in himself or herself) by praising or helping the person Disapprove- if you disapprove of something, you do not agree with it. You think it is bad or wrong Apporve- if you approve of something, you agree with it. You think it is good or right.
