20 questions- definitions, examples, cases, statistics Taken from ppt lectures, Statistics Canada activity (D2L), Defences reading, Hamilton case study, Rogers case study Terms: Classical Criminology, Rational/Deterrence, Positivism, Sociological, Anomie, Biological, Ecological School, Consensus, criminology (definition and what it attempts to do), dangerous offender designation, sentencing in Canada, Section 718, Incarceration, probation, absolute and conditional discharge, Restitution, Conditional sentencing, “Parity”, Principle of restraint, criminal basics (actus reus, mens rea (objective and subjective), defences to a charge- necessity, duress and self defence

3 Test Outline Section 2: Short Answers- Scenario applications- see handout for breakdown of questions 5 questions- thinking, knowledge, and application Criminology schools of thought, Sentencing (718), the basic elements of Criminal Law, and defences to a charge, statistics Canada and Rogers inquest activities *I might throw in a constitutional law type question to see you apply what we know about how the constitution impacts the criminal justice system

4 Test Outline Section 3: FIDS R. v. Gladue
1 page maximum- focussing specifically on the issue and the Ratio Decidendi- significance is application- only needs to be 1 or 2 pts You are encouraged to bring the completed FIDS to class
