2 Vascular System Xylem transports water and dissolved minerals from the roots to the rest of the plant. Moves by capillary action by the physical properties of adhesion and cohesion. Phloem moves the products of photosynthesis from the leaves to the roots and stems Moves from the sugars source to the sugars sink, this region shifts seasonally

Site of photosynthesis, creates oxygen Food supply for herbivores, omnivores, and detrivores Medicinal properties Differences within structure used to identify various species
