3 HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
This speech was spoken by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. After the Battle of Gettysburg, Lincoln gave this speech to honor the fallen troops that died fighting for the Union.

4 Summary 87 years ago, our fathers created our nation and declared every man created equal. Now our men are fighting each other in this Civil War and we have come to honor them today. We might forget this speech, but we will never forget the living and dead men that fought here. We need to end this we so that these men did not die in vain. America needs to be free again.

5 RELEVANCE The Gettysburg Address is important in American history because it was the turning point in the Civil War. It was the last battle fought in union territory, the rest of the battles were fought in
