2 Business Overview ABC Widgets is a leading provider of widgets and gizmos.  The firm was founded in 2003 and the administrative offices are located in Houston, TX. All products are shipped from the corporate warehouse in Clear Lake, TX. 

3 Business Need Due to the growth of ABC Widgets, management has requested an upgrade to the following areas of our company: A system is needed that will aid the marketing department with mail outs and tracking the efficiency of the marketing department. A sales ordering system that will enable ABC Widgets to input orders from the telephone, from s, and generate reports. A system that will generate various reports for management.

4 Business Requirements
The system functionality should include: The system needs to integrate with the existing customer database. The system needs to be relatively simple to operate. The system needs to distinguish between customers who prefer -only, print-only, or both. The system needs to be cost effective. The system needs to be implemented within two months.

6 Business Value ABC Widgits hopes to increase their customer database substantially with these implementations. The new system will provide the following benefits: Tangible Increased revenues from newsletter / print ad campaign sales. Decreased time it takes to get information about sales into customer inboxes. Intangible Increased customer preference data for data warehousing / data mining. Decreased stress on sales and marketing department because coordinating advertisement campaigns is simpler.

7 Special Issues / Constraints
System must work with existing customer database and existing website. Must have a way to track success rates of advertisements campaigns. System must be online in two months and cost less than $10,000 to implement.
