Be sure to make campus visits to schools that are being considered Call colleges or check websites for “Open House” dates Make appointments for information sessions, campus tours, and interviews Junior year & early fall of senior year are great times to visit

8 Important Websites Used to register for the SAT & Subject Tests & to send scores. (Language Arts, Math, and Optional Essay). Free practice with Khan Academy Used to register for the ACT & to send scores. (Language Arts, Math, & Science). List of over 800 schools that are “test optional”

10 SAT: Subject Tests 1-hour tests in particular subject areas

Completing interest surveys, career profiles, and beginning to build their resume. A tool for managing and organizing your college search and application process. Contains admissions data for recent Delran graduating classes. If your student misplaced their username and/or password have them see their counselor.

18 Common Application – What is it?
One application that can be submitted on-line or in print to over 700 member colleges It saves time and duplication of effort for students, teachers and counselors Many schools use the Common Application as their only application You cannot open your account until August 1st 2019.

The more extracurricular activities I have the better… Senior grades don’t count… If I haven’t heard of a college or university, it can’t be very good… College Admissions is an exact science… There’s only one right college for me; my life will be ruined if I don’t get admitted to my first choice school…

Think in terms of “the big picture” Help your child find his or her own personal strengths and interests Don’t make every conversation/interaction about school Help your child realize he/she is not the sum of GPA/Test Scores/Activities
