1 Easter Revision Higher Psychology

2 21st April Complete 20 mark essay question on the circadian rhythms. Question and essay plan was given out in class and can be found on the blog.

3 Section 1 – Research Methods
You will be given a scenario and asked a series of questions adding up to 20 marks. Make sure you are studying your glossary and know all your terminology. Variables (IV DV, extraneous) and hypothesis. Ethical guidelines – (6 headings) Methodology – experimental and non experimental, design. etc

4 Section 2 - Individual Behaviour
Sleep, dreams and sleeping disorders The exam could ask you any question on this topic worth and range of marks (1-20) so be prepared for anything. Use SCHOLAR to help you add and organise your notes from class.

5 Section 2 - Individual Behaviour
Memory This is the optional topic so any question on this is likely to be vaguer than on sleep. The SQA has stated that: How 3 approaches explain 1 topic (Cognitive, Biological and Psychoanalytic) 2 Theories – Multi-store model and working memory model or 2 theories of forgetting, eg Cue-dependent and Interference. 2 Research studies – aims, methods, procedures, results, conclusion and evaluations.

6 Section 3 – Social Psychology
Conformity and Obedience The exam could ask any question on this topic so again be prepared. Conformity – types, factors and Mori and Arai, 2010 Obedience – factors, Milgram, 1963 Resisting social pressure

7 Section 3 – Social Psychology
Social Relationships Again these questions are likely to be quite vague. 4 concepts/theories – Forming relationships (matching hypothesis, proximity and familiarity), Economic theories, Evolutionary theory, breakdown of relationships. 2 Studies – aims, methods, procedure, results, conclusion and evaluation.
