Focus Question
Think about the term “geologic processes.”
With your lab partners generate a list of “real –life” examples of geologic processes
Copy the following definition into your notebook
geologic processes -naturally occurring processes that shape the landscapes we see on Earth (and landscapes we do not see, like those under the ocean)
Look through your list of “real –life” examples of geologic processes. Would you make any modifications?

3. Krakatau
In 1883 the people all over Indonesia and around the world observed phenomena (an observed event that can be scientifically explained) related to events happening on Krakatau.
Procedure: With your group read and examine each card in the Krakatau Card Set Select a card your group thinks is a good example of a “phenomena”
Discuss and record questions about the “phenomena”
What do you think happened on Krakatau? Support your thinking with “prior knowledge” and evidence from the card set
Look at Student Guide Table 1.1 (p.5) and read through each of the events. Generate additional questions that could be investigated
