2 Definition of Referenced Standards
ISO – International Organization for Standards Laboratories use ISO/IEC to implement a quality system aimed at improving their ability to consistently produce valid results. Five elements that are Scope, Normative References, Terms and Definitions, Management Requirements and Technical Requirements. Two main sections are: Management requirements are primarily related to the operation and effectiveness of the quality management system within the laboratory. Technical requirements include factors which determines the correctness and reliability of the tests and calibrations performed in laboratory. Provides the basis for accreditation from an Accreditation Body. Since the standard focuses on competence, accreditation is simply formal recognition of a demonstration of that competence. Accreditation is performed by independent verification organizations to ensure impartiality. This is widely agreed as the most commonly used standard of accountability for use to verify laboratory competency and performance capability
