6 Science and Research The Jagiellonian University has excellent world-class research centres: Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology SOLARIS Synchrotron The Jagiellonian Centre for Experimental Therapeutics OMICRON CITTRU Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Studies Life Science Park Projects, patents, and inventions  In 2017 the Jagiellonian University carried out 1,156 research projects, including 45 international projects. In 2017 the Jagiellonian University researchers acquired a funding for 347 new projects, including 14 international projects worth EUR 907, and USD 40, and subsidies on domestic projects worth PLN 164,805, In 2017 the Jagiellonian University obtained patent protection for 55 inventions (28 in Poland and 27 abroad).
