3 What is Rapid Rehousing (RRH)
Rapid Rehousing programs provide temporary rental subsidies paired with case management, housing search assistance, direct supportive services, and linkages to community based services. The goal of RRH is to rehouse families in permanent housing that they can sustain on their own after they cease to receive the program’s assistance. Assistance is short. Assistance should be the minimum amount necessary for each household Flexible and individualized assistance Family successfully Stabilized

4 Evaluating your Rapid Rehousing Program
Celebrate Successes Decrease Returns to Homelessness 4 Increase Exits to PH 3 Reduce Length of Time Homeless 2 1

5 Reducing Length of Time Homeless
Goal: RRH is meant to be rapid! Performance Benchmark: Exit households from shelter to rapid rehousing in 30 days or less. Evaluating Performance: Average = Sum of number of days from program entry to move in date Total number of households

6 Increase Exits to Permanent Housing
Goal: Exit Households to permanent housing Performance Benchmark: Exit at least 80% of households to permanent housing Evaluating Performance: Percent = Total number of households exiting to PH during a specified time period Total number of households that exited during the same time period Multiply quotient by 100

7 Decrease Returns to Homelessness
Goal: RRH helps households exit homelessness. RRH providers should work to decrease HH from returning to homelessness Performance Benchmark: At least 85% of HH that exit RRH programs to permanent housing should not become homeless again within a year Evaluating Performance: Percent = Total number of households exiting to PH – Total number of HH who returned to homelessness within a year Total number of HH exited to PH Multiply quotient by 100

8 Improving your RRH Program Set Performance Improvement Goals
Evaluate Current Performance & Interpret Results Improve your RRH Program Develop & Implement Performance Improvement Plan Set Performance Improvement Goals

9 Developing a Strong Performance Improvement Plan
Outcome Benchmark Calculation How to improve Length of Time Homeless 30 days or less from ES exit to Permanent Housing Average = Sum of number of days from program entry to move in date for all HH/total number of HH Recruit LL to have access to units Lease Up Tours Increase Exits to PH At least 80% of HH exit to PH Percent = Total number of households exiting to PH during a specified time period Total number of households that exited during the same time period Quotient * 100 Effective Case Management & Referrals to Mainstream Resources Decrease Returns to Homelessness Total number of households exiting to PH – Total number of HH who returned to homelessness within a year/ Total number of HH exited to PH Aftercare programming Effective Case Management
