John Fulleylove

John Fulleylove (18 Aug 1845 – 22 May 1908)
was an English landscape artist and illustrator. Born in Leicester, he originally trained as an architect before becoming an artist in watercolours and oils. He exhibited widely in England from 1871 at venues in London such as the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Fine Art Society, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and in many other regional towns and cities. Abroad, he painted in France, Italy, Greece and the Middle East. His watercolour illustrations appeared in several travel books. In 1878 Fulleylove married fellow artist Elizabeth Elgood. Their daughter Joan Fulleylove (1886–1947) became a stained glass designer. They also had a son, John Christopher Fulleylove, who married Margery Dudeney, daughter of puzzle designer Henry Dudeney.

Syntagma Square 2014

Syntagma Square (Greek: Πλατεία Συντάγματος,, English: Constitution Square), is a town square located in central Athens, Greece, on front of the new building of the Greek Parliament. It is closely connected to the history of Athens and the Hellenic history in general. The Square is named after the Constitution that King Otto was obliged to grant, after a popular and military uprising on September 3, 1843. It is the oldest and socially most important square of modern Athens, at the epicentre of commercial activity during the 19th century. As the children of our school said Syntagma Square in the past had a lot of trees and was a natural environment, the people walked around in peace and quiet. The difference with the photograph of today is that there have been built many buildings and streets full of cars and too much noise. Due to this the natural environment has nearly disappeared.

little monastery Monastiraki Square (Greek: Μοναστηράκι) is a district of Athens around the square , a part of the larger district of Plaka . Formerly the name was " Monastirion " , which comes from the old church of Athens , located in this area , at the intersection of the streets Athena and Hermes . The square is a former Catholic church . During the Frankish period the monastery was owned by Nicholas Bonefatsi . During the period of Turkish rule it is referred to as part of the monastery of Karea on Hymettus . In later years it became a parish church , in honor of the Assumption of Virgin Mary. The chilldren said that in the old paint we can see public cleaners with the horse and the wagon and people dressed in a more old fashion way. The church has its steeple in the centre of the church building. In the photograph we can see the difference on the church, the steeple of the church is on the side. Also we see too many people that go through the square.

The children visited the museum and worked in our classes.
