1 PARCC Assessments Overview
ISBE/SSoS Data and Assessment Content Specialists This will be a brief overview of the PARCC Assessments. For more in depth information visit parcconline.org

2 PARCC is the consortium that will create the next set of tests, relating to the Common Core Standards. They are frequently adding information to the site and if you are interested, you should sign up for their newsletter.

3 Goals of the PARCC System
1.Create high-quality assessments 2.Build a pathway to college and career readiness for all students 3.Support educators in the classroom 4.Develop 21st century, technology-based assessments 5.Advance accountability at all levels 6.Build an assessment that is sustainable and affordable

6 PARCC Assessment Design
To address the priority purposes, PARCC states are developing an assessment system comprised of four components. Each component will be computer-delivered and will leverage technology to incorporate innovations. Two summative, required assessment components designed to Make “college- and career-readiness” and “on-track” determinations Measure the full range of standards and full performance continuum Provide data for accountability uses, including measures of growth Two interim, optional assessment components designed to Generate timely information for informing instruction, interventions, and professional development during the school year In English language arts/literacy, an additional required, non-summative component will assess students’ speaking and listening skills DISCLAIMER: Administration of the “optional assessments” will be a multiple state decision currently scheduled to occur during the winter of

8 The Frameworks provide both a general overview and a grade level blueprint for districts, schools and teachers.

PARCC welcomes feedback as they create this new assessment. The PARCC online site has a link for feedback on the front page. You may also want to look at Smarter Balance for additional task samples. It is the other consortium, but they are similar and on the same CCSS.
