3 IN MY MEMORY.

4 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 [1] Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: [2] On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

7 The Lost Coin

8 Let’s keep in mind this afternoon the story of the "Lost Sheep"
With this parable this evening Jesus is going to give us the same teaching. Let's go to the parable itself.

9 Luke 15:8-10 "Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

10 In this parable we will almost see the exact same thing that
we saw in the parable of the Lost Sheep. What is the main theme of the parable? The love of God for the sinner.

11 the church or the Holy Spirit?
"Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? Who is the woman? Does she represent someone? Does she represent: the church or the Holy Spirit?

12 Why does the woman look for it so diligently?
Whom does the coin represent? The sinner? Why does the woman look for it so diligently? For one reason!

13 The coin represents the sinner, and he has the image of God imprinted in him.
Creature of God === That's the reason why the woman is looking so diligently.

14 What does this woman do until
She also looks because the silver coin was the wage of a day of work. What does this woman do until she finds the coin? "She lights up a lamp" This shows the diligence that the woman has for the coin.

15 "She searches carefully"
"Sweep the house" It is a day of work! "She searches carefully" Does she have love for the coin?

16 And when she has found it she calls her friends and neighbors together saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' Only for one coin?

17 === The teaching of the parable is not the coin itself!
Creature of God There is somebody more important.

18 Jesus has told us already...
Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Jesus has told us already... Luke 15:7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

19 There is joy in the presence of the angels of God
But let’s notice that here Jesus said: There is joy in the presence of the angels of God Do the angels rejoice when a sinner repents? What does the Bible say?

20 The Bible has already told us that the angels have a good interest
in our salvation. 1 Peter 1:10-11 [10] Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, [11] searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. Hebrews 1:13-14 [13] But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"? [14] Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? Matthew 18:10 [10] "Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. From the beginning they have been in God's plan for man's redemption. Luke 2:10-14 [10] Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. [11] [13] And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: [14] "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" Matthew 25:31 [31] "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.

21 Who is before the angels?
"God" Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

22 What should be your attitude toward the lost ones?
Applying the parable... What should be your attitude toward the lost ones? Many of us have different reactions. Let's see some...

23 HATE We think that we are the best Isaiah 65:5
Who say, 'Keep to yourself, Do not come near me, For I am holier than you!' These are smoke in My nostrils, A fire that burns all the day.

24 I don’t care if he comes or not, or if he repents. I could care less.
INDIFFERENCE I don’t care if he comes or not, or if he repents. I could care less. James 2:14-17 [14] What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? [15] If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, [16] and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? [17] Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

25 Greet him Greet them and to welcome them the same way Jesus did with those who came to him. Luke 15:1 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him.

26 Look for them In our past lesson we see that Jesus never waits for anybody to come to him. He was looking for them. Luke 5:31-32 Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. [32] I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

27 What would be our attitude toward
the sinner? The Bible says that there is joy in heaven when a sinner repents of his sins. Luke 15:7,10 How about among us?

28 Do we have among us: Hatred Indifference Greet them To look for them

29 Do we have among us: 2 Corinthians 7:4-9 [4] Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation. [5] For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears. [6] Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, [7] and not only by his coming, but also by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us of your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more. [8] For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while. [9] Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing.

30 Don't forget to who we represent on earth
Ephesians 5:1-2 [1] Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. [2] And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Is that your attitude?
