February 7 - 8, 2005 What is FCCLA? A Career Technical Student Organization for students enrolled in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) courses Leadership, citizenship and career development Approximately 4,700 members in middle, junior and senior high schools and ROCPs 75% females 25% males California FHA-HERO

3 FCS CTE Industry Sectors
Family and Consumer Sciences Encompasses Three Interrelated Programs: ● Consumer and Family Studies (CFS) programs prepare men and women with personal skills for family living and for managing home and work responsibilities. CFS courses provide the foundation for Family and Consumer Sciences Related Occupations (FCSRO) Career Pathway programs. ● Family and Consumer Sciences Related Occupations (FCSRO) programs contribute significantly to economic development by preparing youth and adults for employment and postsecondary education in nine career pathways: Child Development; Consumer Services; Education; Family and Human Services; Fashion Design and Merchandising; Food Science, Dietetics, and Nutrition; Food Service and Hospitality; Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation; and Interior Design. ● California FCCLA is the career technical student organization for students enrolled in FCS Programs. The intra-curricular organization prepares members with leadership, career and citizenship skills for family, community and work roles. FCCLA CFS FCSRO

Evaluation, accountability, and continuous program improvement 11. Systematic CTE promotion, outreach, and communication These elements must be present in CTE programs to ensure that all California students are prepared for their lifelong journey.
