Theocracy A theocracy is run by the Deity or God, but the god’s laws are interpreted by the religious leader such as a bishop, mullah, or ayatollah.

1 Theocracy A theocracy is run by the Deity or God, but the god’s laws are interpreted by the religious leader such as a bishop, mullah, or ayatollah. It is a government subject to religious authority.

2 Communism A Communist government plans and controls the economy and a single party holds power. There is no private ownership of property or capital. Goods are equally shared by the people (classless society.)

3 Oligarchy An Oligarchy is a government in which control is exercised by a small group of individuals whose authority generally is based on wealthy or power.

4 Totalitarianism A Totalitarian government is like the Communist form of government in that it owns all property and business and makes all the economic decisions, but it also seeks to shape the attitudes,values, and beliefs of its population.

5 Absolute Monarchy An Absolute Monarchy is a government in which the supreme power is lodged in the hands of a monarch who reigtns over a state or territory, usually for life and by hereditary right; the monarch may be either a sole absolute ruler or a sovereign – such as a king, queen, or prince.

6 Constitutional Monarchy
A constitutional monarchy is a system of government in which a monarch is guided by a constitution whereby his/her rights, durties, and responsibilities are spelled out in written law or by custom.

7 Direct Democracy A Direct Democracy is a form of democracy in which people decide (vote) policys directly, as opposed representative democracy in which people vote for representatives who then decide policy initiatives.

8 Representative Democracy
A Representative Democracy is a form in indirect democratic government in which the sovereign power of the people is spelled out in a governing constitution. Citizens vote in representatives and give them power to make decisions on behalf of the citizens.

9 Socialism Socialism represents the idea that a central government can more fairly or equally distribute propery and labor; in actuality, most socialist governments ended up being no more than dictatorships over workers by a ruling elite.

10 Dictatorship A dictatorship is a government
where one person is in charge. This person usually came to power through force. He or she has not been elected. This person usually tries to control all aspects of life of the people he/she is ruling. They often use force or violence to get their way.

11 Democracy A democracy is a government that is ruled by
the people. In a direct democracy, all citizens vote on all issues. In a representative democracy, the people elect lawmakers to make decisions for them.

12 Republic A republic is a government
where the people elect individuals to make the laws for them. In a republic, not all people get to vote. In some republics only men can vote or people of a certain race. If the lawmakers don’t make the voters happy, the voters can vote them out in the next election.
