Prior to Sierra implementation, opportunity to cleanup Millennium and migrate a clean database to Sierra: Bad codes; removal of logins (not in use); authorisations (now called permissions)
Attending the IUG – Sierra presentations provided a deep insight into what worked/what didn’t work---communication with all partners-III, UoN IT, Staff, Partner Libraries
III worked within our given timeframe (BaseCamp)
Existing Millennium server repurposed, added more memory
Preview access available sooner than expected…then the work really started
UoN Library staff-17 staff session x 1 Auchmuty Library, Visits to Ourimbah /City campus
Partner Libraries-face to face visit or phone conference
Creation of new logins
UoN IT project Manager: contacted our 14 Partner Libraries (IT staff) with information relating to Sierra and Sierra desktop deployment of icon…smooth
Deployment of Sierra desktop icon to UoN Library staff …smooth
Go live 10th July….Millennium no longer!

3. Slide 2: Storm clouds were gathering
Realisation III copied old version of Millennium database….weeks of work in removal of logins, updating permissions, bad codes…back further than where we started
Thorough testing of all modules-Team Leaders assigned to testing/reporting
Circulation-call number searching; on-the- fly records
Cataloguing – call number searching; remote searching not working
Quick fix for remote searching…single user (move from Contextual) move catalogue function to lower in the list of functions
Innreach – paging slips, unable to view details in reports
Systems- some staff had high level permissions- adjust fund balances, waive fines. Quick check of permissions file…quick fixes
BaseCamp…where are you? No response
Logged multiple jobs with III

Total review of all permissions.
Start with Circulation-most crucial-front line
Systems side of Sierra-very limited time to ‘get to know’
Team also had to learn the new way of Sierra-permissions

Many long standing jobs from III are now resolved
Most recent software update installed by III – fixed some problems
