Sales Tax-an additional amount of money charged on items that people buy. Tax is added. Example: A graphing calculator costs $95, and the sales tax rate is 6.75%. What is the sales tax? 4 What is the discount or the amount saved?
Discount/Markdown- the amount by which the regular price of an item is reduced or lowered. Discount is subtracted. Example: Alan wants to buy a set of skis that has a regular price of $150. This week, the skis are on sale at 25% discount. What is the discount or the amount saved? What is the new cost of the skis? $37.50 To find the new cost you subtract $37.50 from the original cost of $150. The new price is $
