Over 60,000 electronic journals and almost 450 research databases Generally not available full-text on the Internet Schulich School of Business and Libraries are partners in funding the electronic resources Description of complete online business resources can be found under Business Resources A-Z on the Bronfman Business Library website To access online resources type the name of the periodical or database title into the search box on the York University Libraries homepage. Via Books 24x7 Films on Demand (access from library home page) Help with business research videos As many sources online as possible. Books 24x7 15 topical collections. One for business, one for IT, one for finance. Offers you the full-text of the books. Leading professional books – trade or practitioner lense and currency. Also offers executive summaries of today’s foremost business books. Videos with interviews from preeminent business leaders and management gurus etc. Films on Demand over 700 videos and have business focus for most part.

Sagebien, J., Lindsay, N., Campbell, P., Cameron, R., & Smith, N. (2008). The Corporate Social Responsibility of Canadian Mining Companies in Latin America: A Systems Perspective. Make sure to access Google Scholar through the library home page so you benefit from links to library subscriptions to journals and more. Use the Find York links which appear in the results! Some people really like this one when they are looking for specific articles and prefer the way it works to our library catalogue. Also unlike our catalogue does give you articles on topics. Show Mergent for filings value-added and other information. Yahoo. We recommend the Annual reports/filings section and public companies section of the Company Research Guide.

Mergent Online International coverage Publicly-traded companies NetAdvantage U.S. companies Factiva Click on companies/markets tab to search for companies Marketline Advantage international coverage Useful for SWOTs and case studies For more information see the Business Library’s Company Research Guide Infomart and Mergent and Netadvantage for financials. Mergent has most historical depth across countries. Databases have different relative strengths. Think about challenges facing your company or industry – SWOT and Five Forces Analysis –show in company guide - ask for organization examples. Barrick Gold.

Our industry research guide is geared to help you choose the one(s) that will help you best!

Industry trends and analysis – Key databases for U.S. analysis and reports Demonstrations NetAdvantage Mergent Online Marketline Advantage Business Monitor Online Gartner Intraweb (especially useful for IT industries) Niche industries – Use IBISWorld or First Research Reports available via Investext Plus (U.S. Focus) Top ones have broader industry categorizations – show example of Business Monitor Online. Useful for SWOT and forecasts. IBISWorld - Food, Beverage and Tobacco but interested in candy. Or interested in life insurance not insurance generally speaking. Show IBISWorld USA.

Market segmentation data. Consumer behaviour/trends analysis. Use GMID if consumer good or service. Use Marketline if consumer good or service or in industrial category or IT category etc. Broader coverage. Real value added of GMID is it covers brands and gives more segmentation data than Marketline Advantage and has trends analysis. Example of ice cream.
