1 Science Fact an observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and for all practical purposes is accepted as “true.” Ex. There are seven days in a week

2 Science Hypothesis A statement about the natural world leading to deductions that can be tested. The purpose of a hypothesis is to explain one or more observations. Ex. If I change the battery in my car I will get better gas mileage.

3 Science Theory In science, a well- substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, inferences, and tested hypotheses. Ex. Evolution

4 Science Law A descriptive generalization about how some aspect of the natural world behaves under stated circumstances. Can be represented as an equation Ex. Kepler’s Law, planetary motion are three scientific laws describing the motion of planets around the Sun.
