1 HANNAH’S SONG OF PRAISE
SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES LESSON 693: HANNAH’S SONG OF PRAISE

2 RECAP OF OUR LAST STUDY From our last study, entitled “The birth of Samuel”, we learnt that: God is faithful and will always remember those who faithfully call on him. Hannah’s breakthrough is an evidence of that. Believers should be faithful in attending spiritual gatherings. In case this is impossible, due consent should be requested from leadership. Despite criticism from Penninah and the previous encounter with Eli, Hannah was focused on her covenant with God when she returned to the temple. Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord and the Lord blessed her with more children. God rewards those who sacrifice to him. Believers should lead their children to the Lord already when they are young.

3 TODAY’S STUDY: LESSON 693: HANNAH’S SONG OF PRAISE
MEMORY VERSE: “And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.” (1 Samuel 2:1). TEXT: 1 Samuel 2:1-11. The study of today is divided into three parts: God’s attributes extolled. God’s sovereignty exhibited. God’s ability predicted.

4 SUMMARY God’s attributes extolled (1 Samuel 2:1-3; Psalm 147:5; 99:4-5): Hannah attributed her praise to God and not to her labour in prayer or to Eli. God’s holiness is an attribute which stands out above the rest. This is a major reason why believers should worship the LORD. Moreover, holiness as an absolute requirement for believers is further emphasized. The Lord has perfect knowledge of everything. Nothing can be hidden from him. God’s sovereignty exhibited(1 Samuel 2:4-8; Daniel 4:34,35) God has absolute authority over all and acts according to his will. However He gives men the freedom to choose for or against Him. God’s attributes predicted (1 Samuel 2:9-11) God will preserve the saints and judge the adversary and the unrighteous. Believers should listen to songs which minister to the body of Christ and glorify God. Parents should prepare their children spiritually before ministration.

11 CONCLUSION We should remember to praise the Lord at all times, especially when the Lord answers our prayer. God is holy and believers are called to worship him in holiness and truth God is sovereign, full of knowledge and power. However we still have the free will to decide whether to serve God or not The Lord will preserve his servants and judge the unrighteous ultimately. Believers should listen to and sing songs that glorify the Lord and edify the body of Christ.
