13 Healthy Relationships
For each scenario: Identify which elements make it a healthy relationship Identify which elements make it an unhealthy relationship Create some dialogue between the characters that demonstrate assertive communication and moves the relationship more into the healthy zone.

14 Scenario 1 Toni and Jamal have been dating for about 4 months. Toni just made the varsity soccer team, after putting in many hours of practice throughout the entire summer. Toni excitedly calls her boyfriend Jamal to tell him the news and to tell him all about the team. Jamal has no interest in soccer at all, but still talks and listens throughout the entire conversation, showing Toni how excited he is for her. Jamal knows how much the team means to Toni, and wants to support her. Toni invites Jamal to the first game, but Jamal tells her that he can’t come because he has an ASB meeting that night. Toni is disappointed and wishes that he would just skip the meeting.

15 Scenario 2 Sarah and Ty have been dating for more than a year. Ty invites Sarah to his house one Friday evening, knowing that his parents won’t be home. Sarah is not aware of that fact and is surprised when she arrives that evening and concerned because she knows her mom would not approve. Ty tells her that he just wants to spend some private time with her and she agrees to stay. While cuddling on the couch, their kissing progresses to the point where Sarah no longer feels comfortable and tells him to stop. Ty does not listen immediately.
