Everything is made of particles Particles have a certain amount of motion  less motion - solid, more motion – liquid, greatest amount of motion – gas Because particles are moving they have Kinetic Energy (KE) Which have the greatest KE?

The transfer of thermal energy is known as HEAT. Heat is transferred in one direction from objects Hot  Cold We can also say More energy to less energy

The air particles are moving faster and bump into the the slow moving butter particles The air particles energy is transferred to the slow moving butter particles As the butter particles gain energy it increases in temperature

Particles have no KE at absolute zero 0 degrees Kelvin -273 degrees Celsius -459 degrees Fahrenheit NO PARTICLE MOVEMENT
