What are the exams? Paper One: Comprehension and writing for a purpose (1 hour, 15 mins) Paper Two: Shakespeare and Creative writing (1 hour, 15 mins)

Prose Comprehension: Discuss with the person next to you what strategies you will use in the exam to help you answer the questions.

Writing for a purpose: What does this mean?
When writing for a purpose you are expected to write a text for a specific audience… You might be explaining, persuading or advising You will choose a specific format to write in, this could be: A letter, a speech, an , a diary, an article or a newspaper report You MUST: still remember to use all the technical devices (figurative language) that we expect you to include in all creative writing! READ THE QUESTION: what are you specifically being asked to do? Do not just regurgitate an essay you’ve previously written in class!

Shakespeare: no need to panic about this!
This is a chance for you to show off all you learned while we were studying Macbeth! Read the question carefully, there’ll be plenty of guidance. REMEMBER: Make the most of your exceptional skills with P.E.E paragraphs to help you construct your answer. Write an opening paragraph and a closing paragraph to structure your writing.

Creative Writing: Discuss with the person next to you how you will plan your answer.

How can I revise? Read over the revision materials on the iNet. Check you are happy with the meanings of: alliteration, simile, metaphor, personification, triadic structure and know how to find them in a text. Make sure you have thought about your creative writing Consider how to answer comprehension questions in an exam – remember P.E.E and revise, if necessary

What Else Can I Do? Talk to your English teacher if you are still worried Read through your English book Read every night before you go to bed!

Write an article about ‘The Plastic Solution’
