2 caretakers Define: people who take care of people or animals especially in hospitals. Example: The caretakers at the zoo feed the penguins every day. Ask: What would caretakers for a horse do?

3 population Define: the number of people in an place.
Example: There is a large population of flamingos living in the pond. Ask: Can you name another animal population that might live in a pond?

4 recognized Define: to know and remember something or someone from before. Example: Nola recognized herself in the mirror. Ask: What is another word for recognized?

5 relatives Define: animals or people who belong to the same family.
Example: We invited friends and relatives to our picnic. Ask: How do you spend time with your relatives?

6 resources Define: things that are used for help or support.
Example: Plants need resources, such as sunlight and fresh air to grow. Ask: What resources do people need?

7 success Define: a result that was hoped for/ someone who is famous because of his or her achievement. Example: Jill’s performance was a success. Ask: Can you tell about a success you have had?

8 survive Define: to stay alive. Example: Animals need water to survive.
Ask: What are some other things animals need to survive?

9 threatened Define: caused danger.
Example: The wildfire threatened the trees. Ask: Can you describe a time when a storm threatened your plans?
