Money Order Note: 1.MO exceeding Rs. 399/- is called High Value MO
Note:2.Remitter fills prescribed form.(MO-8) Note:3.Commission- Rupee 1/- for every Rs. 20/- or part Note: 4.No commission on MOs booked for National Defense Fund & Prime Minister’s Relief Fund Note:5.BO money orders will be rebooked at account office.

Electronic Money Order
It is not a new service but a system of transmission of Money Order electronically among connected Post Offices registered as electronic Money Order offices Remitter will use pay-in-slip in place of Money Order form free of cost

Communication messages available both through standard codes and customized Electronic Money Order system will have provision for Remittance from one to one Remittance from one to many Remittance from many to one

Electronic Money Order booked in selected offices but will be paid in all Post Offices Fully secured since web registration of electronic Money Order offices by Divisional administrator Unique PNR number for every Money Order booked to facilitate tracking through India Post web site

The connected Head offices & Sub offices will book electronic Money Order for other connected Head offices (including Sub offices & Branch Offices in account) and other connected Sub offices (including Branch Offices in account) Money order booked at BOs will be rebooked at its AO as eMO

Booking of Money orders at BOs
After satisfying that the money form is filled up properly, BPM prepared the money order receipt MS 87(a) Duplicate-double sided carbonic process Write the word ‘Money Order’ Name and address of the remitter Amount of value and commission Total amount in words Name and address of the sender BPM to sign Date stamp impression on the space provided

Booking of Money orders at BOs
Hand over first copy of the receipt to remitter Write the MS 87 (a) receipt number on the MO form with name of the BO and date of booking Enter the particulars of MO in the remarks column of BO journal Enter the MO particulars in the BO daily account such as receipt number, amount Send the MO form to AO for rebooking at AO.

Rebooking of BO Money Order
On receipt of BO MO at AO,AO will rebook and send the customer copy of MO receipt to BO duly invoiced in the BO slip On receipt of MO receipt, the BPM check the amount, BO receipt(MS 87a) number, name of the payee with reference to office copy of the BO receipt Paste the account office MO receipt to the office copy of the BO receipt
